After a summer break, we get you back to school with a fresh slice of citrus from Boston-based producer Ali Berger. Glitch-hop in its most funky sense, “110 Love” is a sexy four-track breeze drawing influences from all flavors of glitch-hop and old-school electrofunk.
First up is “Freeze-Dried Cellophane” taking a bold, lighthearted approach featuring splashy pads and riffs reminiscent of classic Prince albums. “Be Down”is a dreamy watercolor painting of organic beats, dreamy vocals and guitar. Next up is “Cool Like:”, a chilled-out collage of classic elements interplaying with wobbles, Rhodes lines and stepping, solid drums. Rounding out the EP is “Gloves On”, mixing deep bass grooves with tasteful leads and chilled atmospheres – perfect mixing for that hot new acapella.
Originally from Princeton, NJ, Ali’s eclectic productions reflect the spontaneity of his live PA shows, which incorporate on-the-fly arrangements, mashups, and remixes. Often spotted on Glitch.FM co-hosting a weekly radio show with Boston’s Lost in Bass crew, Ali has supported the likes of Little People, VibeSquaD, R/D, Michal Menert, and Eliot Lipp. The rest of 2011 will see Ali Berger releasing on several labels and exploring new musical territory in his productions and live sets.
